Being a Good Stand-in

.) Pay attention and listen to cues like “Second Team” or “New Deal” (anything that implies they are starting a new shot or changing camera angles), be ready to hop on set at any moment

.) Make yourself look as much like the actor/actress as you can

.) When the actors come in before they start setting up a shot, to block the scene, watch them and their movements so you can copy them yourself

.) Don’t bother or distract the crew when their busy

.) Do what they tell you to, and do it ASAP

.) Don’t try to tell anybody how to do their job better, you are just a stand-in

.) Don’t be late

.) Prepare for long hours

.) Bring a chair

.) Bring something to do that will fill the down time but not be too distracting
